We, the current scholars, faculty members and parents, need your help, voices, leadership, and support on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Northside High School.  Mr. Chris Barbic, State Superintendent of ASD (Achievement School District), is calling for a community meeting regarding information relative to NHS.

 Major Questions and Concerns
 vWill the State Department of Education take over NHS?
vWill NHS become a Charter School? If yes, when?
vWill all of our children in this community be eligible to attend the new Charter School?
vWhat are the major educational advantages to make NHS a Charter School?
vWhat are the educational advantages to make NHS a Charter School?
vWhat will happen to the current staff at NHS when NHS becomes a Charter School?vWhat curriculum and extracurricular programs be offered?
vHow will the personnel (administrators, teachers, etc.) be selected? What will their  selection be based upon?
vHow many children will be allowed to attend the new Charter School?

vWhat educational and administrative experiences does your staff have in high priority urban schools and urban schools?

Get ready Cougars! The 2011 Northside Alumni Weekend is scheduled for Saturday, October 8th and Sunday, October 9th in Memphis. The weekend kicks off Saturday with the alumni basketball game (Northside Alumni vs Mitchell Alumni). The tip-off time is 1:00 PM at Northside High School. Admission for the game will be $5.00 per person.

Following the game is Party at the Palace II, 8:00 PM at the Memphis Pink Palace. Admission for the party will be $30.00 at the door. The alumni weekend will come to a close on Sunday, October 9th, 3:00 PM with GospelFest 2011 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. You can buy tickets Saturday, Sept. 1st at the Northside High School Gymnasium from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

The Class of '76 is hosting Karaoke Night on Friday, October 7th cougar style with DJ Jess P . Location: April House, 80 S. Flicker, Memphis, TN. 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Admission is $12.00 per person at the door for Karaoke Night. Cocktail buffet included. This event is open to all Cougars from any class - especially those who wish to perform! Participants will sign the DJ selection sheet at their tables and be prepared to get their sang on! Line dancing ain't an option, its a requirement. So get ready to get yo' Wobble flowing. . .

This year the Northside Alumni Weekend Reunion will include a live show from former Northside High School bands as part of our Northside Alumni Celebration. The Funk Family Band from the 1970's are actively practicing and working on their performance. We are still looking for other former Northside bands to participate.
