Condolensences goes out to the family of former Northside High Guidance Counselor, Marshall Maple Sr. Marshall M. Maple, Jr., 73, died February 20, 2010 in a house fire at his residence at 1812 Parkway Terrace. He was born June 16, 1936, in Memphis, TN, to the late Marshall, Sr. and Jimella Foster Maple. Marshall grew up in the New Chicago Community and graduated from Manassas High School in 1954. After graduating from the University of Arkansas (Arkansas A M & N) in 1958, he entered the United States Army. He completed his military duty in 1960 and began his career as an educator in the Memphis City Schools, serving as a teacher and guidance counselor at several local schools, retiring in 1996 from Manassas High School. He also worked at Federal Express and retired from there in 2002. He married Earline Purdy in 1963 and devoted his life to her and their three sons. He and Earline died together in the house fire. He was a dedicated member of Mississippi Blvd. Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Marshall III (Marc), his brother, James Maple and his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Renita Foster of Chicago; two sons, Todd E. Maple and Chad E. Maple both of Memphis; one brother, Carl G. Maple (Betty) of Bloomfield Hills, MI; three sisters, Marilyn Yancey (James); Edna Perry (Clarence) both of Memphis; Loren Louella Foster (Grant) of Kansas City; three grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, devoted cousins and dear friends. Visitation 5 p.m. 7 p.m. Friday March 5, 2010 at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church 70 North Bellevue Memphis, TN. There will be an open microphone for any friend or family that wants to give reflections. A Joint celebration Service will be held for Marshall and Earline on Saturday March 6, 2010 at 12 noon at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church. Dr. Frank A. Thomas will be officiating.
